<p>The Lounge Chair, created by Charles and Ray Eames in the 1950s, was designed with the aim of combining an elegant appearance with ultimate comfort. It has been produced by Vitra using virtually the same methods ever since, and is now recognised as a great classic of twentieth-century furniture design. <p>With the Coffee Table, Isamu Noguchi transferred the biomorphic aesthetics of his sculptural works into a piece of furniture with characteristic organic lines. This is probably why Noguchi considered the table to be his most successful furniture creation. Two wooden legs, available in black ash, maple or walnut, are arranged at right angles to form a stable support for the heavy, thick glass top.</p>

<p>Charles and Ray Eames designed the elegant lounge chair La Chaise for a competition at the Museum of Modern Art in New York in 1948. It was inspired by the &#8216;Floating Figure&#8217; sculpture by Gaston Lachaise. The lounge chair has long since established itself as an icon of organic design.</p>
